6 Things #67: December
Howdy friends, Happy New Year! I’m here with a fresh dose of 6 things that've been happening/keeping my heart happy in the last month. If you’re new here, hello! Welcome to my newsletter. Thanks so much for being here and spending a few moments of your month with me ❤️ Let’s get crackin’, shall we?
Hello 2026!! First thing’s first, I hope you had a relaxing festive season and welcomed the New Year in style (e.g. doing a cross-stitch and watching Hootenanny - it’s all rock and roll here 😂). Before embracing all that January has to offer, I’d like to talk about the final month of 2025(!!) - there were some serious gems. Here are my highlights:
1. 🎮 Hogwarts Legacy
A game I’ve been really enjoying in the last month! Unlike the Harry Potter games which follow the original story and characters, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG (yep, you can venture outside of Hogwarts!!) with a brand new narrative and your own witch or wizard to play as. If, like me, you’re a fan of adventure games with puzzles, exploration and a decent amount of combat, this is worth keeping your eye on (it goes on-sale frequently)! A mint highlight from last month.
2. 💿 Album: Clean Cut Kid - Seven Sounds, Forever
Wondering what soundtracked my last-minute Christmas shopping and present wrapping?? Probably not, but THIS. I first saw Clean Cut Kid support Shura at Brudenell Social Club during my uni days in 2015 (yes, I had to Google the date) and dipped into their music over the years ever since. Mike’s new album, Seven Sounds, Forever is gorgeous and entirely made up of seven instruments/sounds. If you’re looking for a cosy album to dive into during the UK’s wintry weather, this is a lush one. My favourites are Iconoclast, Real Big Shadow and Seven Sounds.
3. 📺 Stranger Things (Season 5)
ICYMI, the final series of Stranger Things has landed!! Fun fact: I convinced myself that I wasn’t that bothered about watching Season 5 - and then it came out 😂 It’s EPIC, SO beautifully done and had me crying throughout 50-60% of the last episode. As someone with a terrible memory and no desire to re-watch the previous seasons beforehand, I didn’t feel like I missed out. If you’re new to the series, it’s incredible. I’d love to give it a re-watch in the future. A huge highlight from December.
4. 📽️🍿 Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
Knives Out is no stranger to 6 Things and (despite recency bias) the latest movie might be my favourite!! If you love a light-hearted, comedy-driven murder mystery and/or anything featuring Daniel Craig, Wake Up Dead Man will be right up your street. If a movie night is on the cards sometime soon, I highly recommend you watch this!
5. 📺 Pluribus
AHHH. An incredible series for my fellow Black Mirror and Severance fans! Pluribus is a dystopian drama about AI and one woman desperately trying to save the world (and her own sanity). Joe and I absolutely LOVED it. It’s epic, mysterious, cleverly written and really makes you think. If you’re looking for a new series to kick off your 2026 watch list, I implore you, let it be this!
6. 📱 Word game, anyone?
Sometimes, watching trash TV has its perks! Story time: in the first few weeks of having Bruno (our new puppy!), we were watching a LOT of daytime TV and catching the odd gameshow. Thanks to Lingo, we are now avid Wordle - and now Spelling Bee - gamers on the NYT Games app (available on mobile OR online here). It’s become almost(!) a daily ritual and something we genuinely look forward to playing together. If you love puzzles and word games, this is mint!
So, they're my 6 things for December! What were your highlights from the month and/or YEAR of 2025? I’d love to hear from you.
Until my next update, you know where to find me 😎
Big love, Jodie x

Hi Jodie, some great tips there and will check out Clean Cut Kid new album and back catalogue. My top tip is Ace by Madison Cunningham. It’s stunning and seeing her 3 times on UK tour in March.
